In Summary: 79 in a 65, no points because of Traffic school, RIP wallet.
Could be worse, at least my record will stay clear of points. GPS speedometer is now on the list of things to eventually buy, tires and suspension are much higher on that list though.
Been needing to use this gif for a while
Just need to take an online driving school class for $20 in the next 90 days, verify with the court, and I’ll be done.

I got a ticket for 21 over when I was 17, I think it was $262. Didn’t go to court, just paid it. Not sure if I got any points, although if I got points it was 3 out of the 4 I could get on a class D license in GA.

I had to pay four pending traffic tickets to deplate the jeep, it was 80 dollars.
Those 20 dollar fines are also fixed, so I could’ve been going 120 in a 50 and still gotten the same fine. Except cameras here are a pain in the ass, the ones I’ve encountered are all calibrated exactly at 50! so if I was doing 55 I’d get ticketed, which is what I suppose happened.

I’m still hurting over getting my Buell impounded. It’s bad enough that they said it would cost me $600 to get out, but then the $770 when I got to the impound lot was an extra nice punch to the gut.

Get a speedo app on your phone and a dock/holder for it if you haven’t done something like that already :D

Hey at least you have your bike back though.
The impound sounds like a very bad time, I’m glad they didn’t do that with the Lexus, would’ve needed to pay the fine plus install cats, o2 sensors, and smog it. Wouldve cost at least $1000.

I got one at 17 aswell but luckily the record resets after you get your real license, allowing me to take traffic school a second time.

With interior temps what they currently are(115°F) it will overheat the phone. But yes that will be happening in the future once I insulate the floorboards

Oh, this is Mexico City; I can’t think of another place within Mexico with speed cameras. You can ask Esteve about it, but as far as I know in the nothern region their attitude to speed is “let er rip!”

Its mostly a constitutional provision, because theoretically you can’t be charged with a crime without a court preciding over it, so the application of speed cameras is mostly frawned upon or downright unallowed

How many tickets can you get before they pull your license? Is there any sort of point system?

I do not think it can be taken away. The tickets follow the car; not the driver. Though I think you can have your license suspended for DUIs, though of course the system is not digitalised, so a drunk driver could have their license confiscated by a cop on a Sunday, and go issue a new one on a Monday, and drive that very same day!
There is a point system in Mexico City; but it’s not enforced, and fines are always given to the car, not so much the driver. Plus, a fined car can drive any time, no matter what fine it has as long as it’s not towed to a municipal lot (in which case it’s a game of luck really if the clerks have access to the fine’s database)
Like, my jeep was registered in Estado de Mexico, not Mexico City, and for most administrative tasks (like getting the emissions tag) the car doesn’t need to be fine free, the clerks don’t check for fines in Mexico City, or in Estado de Mexico.
But, if my car was parked incorrectly in Mexico City, and it was towed by the transit police, I would have had to pay for the fines to get it out. I can also run a car on an expire tax tag and never do anything about it until it’s sold unless it’s sent to the municipal lot.

I was told points don’t really matter compared to the actual charge. If it’s a moving violation, points or not it will affect insurance.
I still recall my first and only ever speeding ticket... 90 in a 55 zone, was falling asleep at the wheel and kept stepping on it to get to next switchover for a road trip. Ended up as a “parking in front of fire hydrant” ticket, $225. Never showed up on my record in Ontario, I still tell insurance companies “no tickets” .

I was reading that it should keep your record clean, I will see soon enough what my insurance company does.
I’m most worried about points since your license is automatically revoked if you have too many.
